The summery of the project:
The Award: the most sports-minded school of Europe 2004


The Award
The most sports-minded School of Europe 2004 is a competition for Secondary Schools ( 12- 18 years) on behave of the European Year of Education through Sport 2004.

The main aims of the project:
• To give a big impulse to all the things connected with sport & exercise and Physical Education in schools.
• To create a more kindly climate for sport at school, in classroom time as well as outside classroom hours.
• To make clear to a wide general public in Europe that sport at school is “Fun”.

Participation:
• All Secondary Schools in the EU can participate.
• In all the countries that will participes there must be hold a national election or selection for the nomination of the Eu-Award
• Belgium, Luxembourg, England, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, France are specially asked to conform this competition
• All the plans and ideas will be published in a special magazine

Criteria
In judging the plans a jury for nomination will be paying attention to the following:
• The curriculum of the department of Physical Education
• Attention for the weak students
• Student participation & parent participation in the programme
• Cooperation with the local sport clubs
• The support at school
• The prospect in the future, the stability and the embedding of the plans at school
• The financial aspects for and the circumstances of the Pe –teachers
• The school and its programme in sport & exercise

The jury
The jury of 6 persons for the final days exists of representatives from the world of Physical Education, Sport and Youth & Welfare in Europe. The IOC will be asked for a representative for Sport.

The program for the Award
• 2003 August – October: development plans and starting project – subproject comities
In week 44 or 45 Starting Conference in The Hague Holland

• 2004 National Award Elections in April – May – June
October: nomination 8 countries
December: Election The Award: the most sports minded school of Europe 2004 in Maastricht & Eindhoven

• 2005: February – March: Evaluation and publication of the results
